Apprentice Painter – 1st Year

Programmed Apprenticeships & Traineeships, in partnership with Programmed Property Services, is offering the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification as a Painter (CPC30620 - Certificate III in Painting and Decorating)

Programmed Property Services is a multi-service provider that delivers commercial painting and painting maintenance programs across Perth and Western Australia for sectors including education, universities, healthcare, government, transport infrastructure, commercial property and strata communities.

The team undertakes interior repainting programs as well as major exterior refurbishment works, supported by services such as façade painting, protective coatings, heritage restoration, concrete repairs and specialist access works using elevated platforms.

Using modern painting systems and premium-grade coatings, Programmed delivers interior and exterior commercial painting with minimal disruption while maintaining high-quality finishes across buildings of every scale.

About the Role

As a 1st Year Apprentice Painter, you will work alongside experienced tradespeople to learn the fundamentals of the trade, including:

  • Surface preparation and basic painting techniques
  • Safe use of tools and equipment
  • Workplace health and safety practices
  • Working across a variety of commercial sites

You will receive structured off-the-job training at TAFE while gaining hands-on experience as you build your skills from the ground up.

It’s important you’re willing to learn and develop your skills over this apprenticeship and have a good attitude and strong work ethic. You will be willing to work as part of an experienced team, under close supervision and at times independently.

In addition, you will:

  • Genuine interest in a career within the industry
  • Have excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills
  • Have great attention to detail and good problem-solving skills
  • Have the ability to meet strict deadlines and cooperate with others
  • Be punctual, reliable and presentable
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of relevant workplace health and safety requirements

Skills and Experience

To be successful, you will meet the following criteria:

  • Completion of Secondary Schooling (minimum)
  • White Card (mandatory)
  • National police clearance (mandatory)
  • A current WA drivers licence and own transport (mandatory)
  • Pre-apprenticeship qualification (advantageous)
  • Ability to work a 76-hour, Monday to Friday roster with the possibility of some overtime.
  • Possess a good building and construction understanding and aptitude
  • Strong commitment to safety and driven work ethic
  • The ability to pass a pre-employment medical and regular drug & alcohol screening tests
